Description

The Bricklayer's primary responsibility involves expertly laying bricks, precast blocks, and various building materials in mortar to build and restore walls, partitions, arches, and other structural elements. This position demands a thorough comprehension of construction blueprints, specialized expertise, and a dedicated focus on ensuring both quality craftsmanship and safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzing and interpreting building plans in preparation for construction.
  • Interpreting work orders to identify required materials and equipment for each job.
  • Measuring distances from reference points to ensure precision in construction.
  • Calculating angles and determining vertical and horizontal alignment of brick courses.
  • Laying bricks with precision using mortar as a binder and a trowel for leveling, ensuring robust and secure construction.
  • Fastening bricks or other building materials using wire clamps or cement.
  • Safely working on scaffolds and swing stages at various heights, adhering to all safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Utilizing a diverse range of hand and power tools effectively for performing fundamental construction tasks.
Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent:
    • Minimum educational background required to demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematical skills essential for the role.

Technical Skills:

  1. Bricklaying Skills:
    • Proficient knowledge in materials, methods, and tools involved in bricklaying and construction.

Physical Fitness:

  1. Physical Endurance:
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and undertake strenuous tasks.
  2. Lifting Capacity:
    • Must possess the capability to lift 70 pounds, as the job involves handling heavy materials.
Experience

Industry Experience:

  1. Bricklaying Proficiency (1+ years):
    • Hands-on expertise in laying bricks, precast blocks, and various building blocks.
    • Demonstrated experience with diverse mortar types and bonding agents.

Tools and Equipment:

  1. Competent Tool Usage:
    • Proficiency in utilizing bricklaying tools and equipment, encompassing trowels, levels, and other manual tools.
    • Familiarity with mechanized equipment such as mixers for efficient and safe operations.

Teamwork:

  1. Collaborative Work Skills:
    • Proven ability to work seamlessly within a team setting.
    • Experience in coordinating with fellow construction professionals, including carpenters, labourers, and site supervisors, ensuring the successful completion of projects.

Building Plans:

  1. Blueprint Reading and Interpretation:
    • Capability to read and interpret building plans with ease.
    • Comfortable executing work in alignment with architectural or engineering designs.
