We are in search of a highly skilled and meticulous Carpet Fitter to become a valuable member of our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in efficiently managing a diverse range of tasks associated with the installation and upkeep of carpets and other floor coverings in both residential and commercial environments.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately measure floor spaces and estimate required materials:
    • Ensure precise measurements of floor spaces to determine the necessary materials for the project.
  • Prepare the work area for optimal installation:
    • Clear the work area by removing furniture and taking off doors to facilitate a smooth installation process.
  • Remove old flooring materials with proper disposal:
    • Efficiently eliminate existing flooring materials and ensure responsible disposal practices.
  • Clean, level, and seal the work area:
    • Create a solid foundation for new flooring by performing thorough cleaning, leveling, and sealing of the work area.
  • Install underlay and floor coverings using appropriate techniques:
    • Employ suitable techniques such as gluing or nailing to install underlay and floor coverings accurately.
  • Stretch carpets skillfully over spiked gripper rods:
    • Ensure a smooth and secure fit by expertly stretching carpets over spiked gripper rods.
  • Heat-seal joins and edges on vinyl flooring:
    • Achieve a seamless finish on vinyl flooring by heat-sealing joins and edges.
  • Apply protective coatings for extended floor covering lifespan:
    • Enhance the durability of floor coverings by applying protective coatings like sprays or waxes.
  • Utilize fast-track flooring systems for efficient installation:
    • Improve efficiency by incorporating fast-track flooring systems during the installation process.
  • Reorganize the room post-installation:
    • Complete the project by rearranging furniture, trimming, and re-hanging doors to restore the room to its original layout.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in diverse floor coverings and installation methodologies.
  • Acquaintance with a wide range of flooring tools and equipment.
Experience
  • Proven experience as a Carpet Fitter or in a similar role.
Skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision.
  • Strong physical stamina and the ability to handle heavy objects.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability to different work environments.
